Public Review
Review from Alexander Patrakov on Swiss VPN
Signed up for their service because they offer a static public IPv4 address (bad for privacy, good for other purposes). This does require signing a contract, and they process the details quite slowly (but, to be fair, they do warn about needing 5 days for it).
The speed is so-so (12-15 megabits per second in both directions), which is worse than some free VPNs offer. But the 10 megabits per second, guaranteed by the contract, are indeed always provided. There was only one disconnect during one week of usage, and OpenWRT reconnected instantly. As the IP address is static, the programs running on my PCs did not even notice this.
Big warning about privacy on their PPtP VPN: they allow encryption, but do not mandate it. Double-check (with Wireshark, if you must) that the traffic is indeed encrypted if you want encryption.
