About FreeVPN.me
FreeVPN.me publishes free device VPN access using third-party clients and shared connection credentials. It is not simply a browser proxy: its accounts page describes OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec and PPTP access and provides an OpenVPN certificate bundle. The linked ZIP returned HTTP 200 with a ZIP content type during collection. No software was installed and no VPN tunnel was established, so file availability should not be mistaken for a working-server test.
The homepage advertises no registration, unlimited bandwidth and P2P support, and says the service works across PC, Linux, Apple and Android devices. These are configuration-based compatibility claims, not evidence of maintained native applications for each operating system. It also promotes multi-hop and no-logging features, but sufficient technical or independent evidence was not obtained to verify those broader claims.
There are significant freshness and transparency caveats. The accounts page says passwords were updated in June 2023, and the downloadable bundle retains a July 2020 filename. The published privacy policy was last updated in January 2015 and primarily discusses website access logs, cookies and advertising rather than providing comprehensive VPN retention terms. The operator, legal jurisdiction, device allowance and audit status remain unconfirmed. Its publicly available free access justifies identifying it as a consumer VPN offering, but not recommending it as independently verified or currently functional.
