About Psiphon
Service overview
Psiphon combines a consumer VPN service with censorship-circumvention technology. The official site and September 2026 privacy policy identify Psiphon Inc. as a Canadian company. Current pages offer Android and iOS downloads and a legacy Windows client. The macOS application is explicitly labelled coming soon and is not treated here as an available download, so platform-specific distinctions matter.
Unlike a service limited to a browser extension, Psiphon’s current FAQ describes encrypted device traffic and dynamically selected transports built around SSH with obfuscation. Legacy Windows behaviour differs: users should read its specific proxy and traffic-coverage instructions rather than assume every application is automatically protected. The download page provides official store destinations and a direct Android APK option.
Free use requires no account, while Psiphon Plus is advertised from $2.88 USD per month for additional features and an ad-free experience. The billing period underlying that starting equivalent and renewal charges were not confirmed. Its trust centre lists published independent reviews, including Cure53 work with different dates and scopes. These are review disclosures rather than an all-purpose endorsement, and the privacy policy should be consulted for operational data and third-party advertising practices.
This is a source-based service overview, not a hands-on review. No speed, streaming, leak or security tests were performed. Availability and commercial terms can vary by location, platform and payment channel; confirm the final order and applicable legal terms before subscribing.
The September 2026 policy says aggregate statistics and diagnostic feedback (including an optional email address) may be retained indefinitely. It describes extended non-identifying data retention during censorship events and Google AdMob identifiers for free-version ads; these are important limits on any privacy summary.
